Free Document Requests Through Your Township Trustees

The Lucas County Recorder's Office maintains deeds, releases, and mortgages from 1985 to the present, as well as military discharge records going back to the Civil War. Normally these copies carry a per-page fee at the Recorder's Office — however, if you request copies through your Township Trustees, they are provided at no cost to you.

Military Discharge Records (DD-214)

The Recorder's Office holds military discharge records going back to the Civil War. All veterans are encouraged to file a copy of their DD-214 discharge papers with the Recorder so that surviving family members receive proper government recognition.

If you cannot locate your DD-214, copies can be requested from the National Military Personnel Records Center. Allow approximately 30 days for a response.
